Exporting from Romexis.
Planmeca Romexis drives ProMax and Viso units and is one of the most common imaging suites in Australian practices. Both 2D images and full CBCT volumes export cleanly as DICOM.
[ DICOM (.dcm) for CBCT · JPEG/PNG or DICOM for 2D ]
2D images (OPG / Ceph)
[ 01 ]
Open the patient and image
In Romexis, open the patient file and double-click the OPG or ceph image so it is active in the 2D module.
[ 02 ]
Export the image
Go to Output (or right-click the image) → Export Image. Choose JPEG at maximum quality, or DICOM if available — DICOM is preferred because it retains acquisition data.
[ 03 ]
Choose a folder you can find
Export to Desktop or Downloads. Name the file with the patient surname so it is easy to match during upload.
CBCT volumes (3D)
[ 01 ]
Open the CBCT volume
Open the patient in Romexis and launch the 3D module with the study you want reported.
[ 02 ]
Export as DICOM set
Choose Output → Export 3D Image (or File → Export → 3D). Select 'DICOM set' with uncompressed or lossless compression. Do NOT export a screenshot or single-slice image.
[ 03 ]
Export the whole volume
Keep the full field of view — avoid cropping unless the region of interest is certain. Romexis writes a folder of .dcm slices (often hundreds of files).
[ 04 ]
Zip the folder
Right-click the exported folder → Compress (Windows: 'Send to → Compressed folder'). Upload the single .zip to us.
[ TIPS ]
- A CBCT export is a folder of hundreds of .dcm files — that is normal. Zip the whole folder.
- If prompted about a DICOM viewer, you can skip including it — we only need the .dcm files.
Menu names vary between software versions. If your screen looks different, call us — we’ll walk you through it.
